Fleetguard Inc., the global filtration, exhaust, coolant and chemical specialist for diesel and gas powered equipment, has reorganized to build on past success and position the company for future growth. Cummins Inc., the parent company of Fleetguard, named Pamela Carter as the first female President of a major filtration and exhaust company. Carter, who was Vice President of Global Filtration and Coolant Business at Fleetguard for the past four years, assumed the post of President on May 2, 2005.
Rick Mills, former President of the Filtration Business, leaves to head a newly formed Components Group for Cummins. The Components Group is comprised of the following separate Cummins businesses: Fleetguard Inc., Fleetguard Emission Solutions, Holset Engineering Co., and Fuel Systems. Each business represents a vital part of Cummins' strategic initiative to leverage the synergies among all Cummins businesses, including the opportunity to cross sell among worldwide OEM Customers and expand through Joint Venture partnerships.
"The organizational restructuring positions our company to take advantage of tremendous growth opportunities," said Carter. "I am looking forward to the challenge of expanding our global reach in providing more Customers with Fleetguard's innovative technology and environmentally friendly product solutions. Our industry is rapidly evolving, and we are positioned to be the change leaders as we move forward in the business environment of the future."
Carter began her career with Cummins in 1997 as Vice President and General Counsel and Corporate Secretary before joining Fleetguard in 1999 as Vice President and Area Business Director and General Manager of the company's Europe, Middle East and Africa business region. She holds an AB degree, cum laude from the University of Detroit; an MSW degree in Social Work from the University of Michigan; a JD degree from Indiana University School of Law; and she is a graduate of the Executive Program of John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. Prior to joining Cummins, she practiced law in the private sector and served as Attorney General for the State of Indiana from 1993-1997.
